AP announced the acquisition of Contextor SAS to enhance the company's machine learning and robotics automation portfolio. On Monday, the software solution provider said the acquisition will help SAP accelerate the development of the Leonardo machine learning solution, a platform for creating enterprise machine learning and automation-based applications and software. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Headquartered in Orsay, France, Contextor SAS is a small European company specializing in robotic processes and desktop automation, offering Microsoft Remote Desktop Setup, XenDesktop Workstation and XenApp Application Server compatible products. Founded in 2000 by Patrick Lemare, Contextor now deploys more than 100,000 robots to help automate business processes. The company previously received €600,000 in financing the venture capital phase.

According to SAP, Contextor's robotic process automation technology will be used to simplify the interface between SAP and non-SAP applications and environments. In addition, the acquisition will be based on SAP's announced Leonardo machine development in October, including the investment in Intelligent Robot Process Automation (RPA), which aims to “help SAP automate the repetitive processes in its portfolio”. It is planned to incorporate Smart RPA functionality into the SAP S / 4HANA application in the first half of 2019 and gradually roll out to other SAP applications.
